• Age: 10–14 (generally) at entry, residential program through high school, services through college.
• Ability:  Average or above academic potential and ability to be a positive member of the home.
• Motivation:  Desire for full partnership on the part of the child and the guardian.
• Need:  Systemic familial and societal barriers to success - multiple environmental risk factors.

Services -  “…value-centered, family-like homes, opportunities and education through college.”

• Homes:  6-8 kids per home, chores, “family meals,” disagreements, compromises, fun. “Normalcy.”
• Opportunities:  Extracurriculars, service projects, mentors, life skills, camps, vacations, to be a kid.
• Parenting:  Live-in houseparents, co-parenting with guardians, love, discipline, high expectations.
• Education:  Quality school placement and support.  Programming for college prep, access, persistence.

Intellectual, social, emotional, physical, and spiritual growth to be “Men and Women for Others.”

A personal interview will be arranged between the referral agent (if applicable), Boys Hope Girls Hope, the child, and the family.

Please be prepared to provide the following documents:

1. Completed application
2. Academic, immunization and other pertinent records
3. Handwritten letter from the child to the Board of Diretors of Boys Hope Girls Hope Kansas City requesting consideration
4. Participation in a 3-day, 2 night visit by the child to the program home
5. Completion of academic and psychological testing

The Program Committee of the Board of Directors determines admission to the Boys Hope Girls Hope program.
